SMWC推出在线服务.S. in Equine Racetrack Management Degree Program

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) has announced that it will offer an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Equine Racetrack Management to be delivered through Woods Online beginning in August. Emphasis will be placed on Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing. It is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the horse racing industry, offering students a comprehensive education in equine management combined with specialized training in racetrack operations.

克里斯•沃伦, former director of Delta and Evangeline Downs will be the instructor for the course curriculum. With over 40 years in the racing industry, Chris will bring a wealth of knowledge to the classroom and provide interactive online courses.

珍妮特·克拉克博士.D., provost/executive vice president for academic affairs, is excited about the new program. “Our Equine Department continues to think about the needs of the equine industry and develop programs for students to help meet those needs.  The racetrack management degree is another opportunity for students interested in equine to foster their passion here at SMWC.”

爱德华·弗格森博士.D., chair of the Equine Department, recognizes the need for developing a program that would help prepare students for opportunities at equine racetracks. “The equine industry continues to grow and that includes growth at equine racetracks.  There are several tracks within a couple of hours of us here at SMWC.”

Designed to provide students with a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the Equine Racetrack Management A.S. degree program equips graduates with the expertise needed to excel in various roles within the racing industry, including racetrack management, 博彩平台网址大全的协调, facility maintenance and more. 学生 will gain a deep understanding of the distinct characteristics, training methods and management practices. The classes are delivered through Woods Online, the second oldest distance learning program in the nation, giving students the flexibility to do classwork around a busy schedule. Student internships will allow for experience and hands-on training, giving students an advantage once they receive their degree.

弗格森补充说, “The program has been designed and will be taught by experienced professionals with extensive backgrounds in the horse racing industry. This real-world perspective will allow students to benefit from the insights and guidance from those actively involved in racetrack management.”
